When you decide to go into a real estate transaction, you need to know if you are being “represented” by an agent or probed for information. Here is an easy way to know. If you have not entered into an agreement with an agent on paper, you are not “represented” and could give away important information that could be used against you in negotiations. For instance, if you HAVE to sell your house quickly and the agent with the buyer finds out, they could pressure you to lower the price for their client.
REMEMBER: Part of the real estate agent’s job is to get as much information about the other party as possible and negotiate a good deal for their clients.
